1. Oil absorption and oil pressure process


Through the reciprocating movement of the plunger in the plunger sleeve, the oil suction and oil pressure of the fuel injection pump are complete. When the plunger is in the lower position, the two oil holes on the plunger sleeve open, and the inner cavity of the plunger sleeve communicates with the oil passage in the pump body, and the fuel quickly fills into the oil chamber.


When you place the cam on the roller of the roller body, the plunger raises. Move up from the plunger's beginning until the plunger's upper-end face blocks the oil hole. During this period, due to the movement of the plunger, fuel is squeezed out of the oil chamber and flows to the oil passage. So this lift is called a pre-stroke. When the plunger blocks the oil hole, the oil pressure process begins. As the plunger moves up, the oil pressure in the oil chamber rises sharply. When the pressure exceeds the spring force of the oil discharge valve and the upper oil pressure, the oil valve opens, and the fuel is injected into the oil pipe to the injector.


The moment when the upper-end surface of the plunger completely blocks the oil inlet hole on the plunger sleeve is called the theoretical fuel supply starting point.


When the plunger continues to move upward, the oil supply continues, and the oil pressure process continues until the spiral bevel on the plunger releases the plunger back to the oil hole. When the oil hole opens, the high-pressure oil passes through the oil chamber. The longitudinal groove on the plunger and the oil return hole on the plunger sleeve flow back to the oil passage in the pump body. At this time, the oil pressure of the plunger sleeve oil chamber is rapidly lower, and the oil pressure of the oil discharge valve falls back to the valve seat in the spring, and the high-pressure oil pipe and the fuel injector immediately stops the fuel injection. At this time, although the plunger continues to rise, the oil supply has been terminated.


The moment when the oblique side of the plunger opens the oil return hole on the plunger sleeve is called the theoretical oil supply endpoint.


You can see from the oil mentioned above absorption and oil pressure process that in the whole process of the upward movement of the plunger, only the middle stroke is the oil pressure process, and this stroke is called the effective stroke of the plunger.


2. Oil quantity adjustment


To meet the requirements of diesel engine load, the fuel supply of the fuel injection pump must be able to adjust within the range of maximum fuel supply (full load) to zero fuel supply (parking).


The adjustment of the fuel supply amount is realized by rotating the entire plunger of the fuel injection pump through the rack and the rotating sleeve at the same time.


When the plunger rotates, the oil supply start time does not change, and the oil supply end time is changed due to the plunger angle to the position of the plunger sleeve return hole. As the angle of rotation of the plunger is different, the effective stroke of the plunger is also other, and thus the amount of oil supplied is also changed.


The greater the angle at which the plunger rotates without the oil level, the greater the distance from the upper-end surface of the plunger to the oblique side of the oil return hole of the opening plug, and the more significant the oil supply amount, if the plunger rotates at a smaller angle. , the oil cuts start earlier, and the oil supply is also tiny. The oil must be cut off when the diesel engine is stopped. To this end, you can turn the longitudinal groove on the plunger to face the oil return hole of the plunger sleeve. At this time, in the entire plunger stroke, the fuel in the plunger sleeve always flows back to the oil passage through the longitudinal groove and the oil return hole, and there is no oil pressure process, so the oil supply amount is equal to zero.


Therefore, when the plunger is rotated, the amount of oil supply is adjusted by changing the timing of the end of the fuel supply amount. This method is called the oil supply endpoint adjustment method.
